Professional Video Editing Services in Chennai

Raw footage doesn’t create impact. The right edit does.

One Dot Direction is a video editing company in Chennai. We take footage that has already been shot and finish it properly, whether that is phone video, a two-camera podcast or a full day of event rushes. What comes back is graded, mixed, captioned and sized for wherever it is being published.

From Raw Footage to Ready-to-Watch Content

Most footage has a good video buried in it somewhere. The job is finding that video and cutting everything else.

We watch all of it first and mark the moments worth keeping, then build the story around those. Colour correction and grading, sound mix, captions and motion graphics come after the structure works, never before. Viewers rarely notice that layer by name. They notice when it is missing.

That is the difference between hiring working video editors in Chennai and paying someone to stitch clips to a trending audio.

What We Edit

01.

Reel & Short-Form Editing

Reel editing for Instagram, YouTube Shorts and LinkedIn. Hook inside the first two seconds, tight pacing, burned-in captions, cuts on the beat. You get a 9:16 master, plus 1:1 and 16:9 versions off the same edit if you post across platforms.

02.

Corporate Video Editing

Corporate video editing for company films, interviews, testimonials, factory footage, CEO messages and internal comms. Multicam sync, lower thirds, subtitles in Tamil or English, and social cut-downs pulled from the same master.

03.

YouTube Video Editing

Long-form footage cut into something people actually finish. Cold open, clear chapters, B-roll, callouts, clean audio, and a thumbnail frame grabbed from the edit. If you want a YouTube video editor in Chennai who works to watch-time, this is that job.

04.

Commercials & Ad Edits

Ad edits built for performance. We cut several hook variants and lengths from the same rushes, usually 6, 15 and 30 seconds, so your media buyer has something to test instead of one hero film.

05.

Podcast Editing

Multicam podcast editing with the camera switching on speaker change. We strip filler words, level the audio and clean up room noise, then deliver the full episode along with four to eight captioned clips for social.

06.

Product Video Editing

Product demos, e-commerce videos, unboxings and product reels. Accurate product colour, speed ramps where they help, text overlays and spec callouts.

Who Our Video Editing Services Are For

Most of our editing clients already own a camera or a phone and a folder full of footage.

  • Creators and YouTubers who shoot every week and lose their weekends to the timeline.
  • Podcasters with multicam episodes piling up and no time to clip them.
  • Agencies who need a white-label editing partner that works to your brand guidelines and stays invisible to your client.
  • Brands with an in-house shooter. You own the camera. We own post-production.
  • Corporate and event teams holding footage from a conference, launch, town hall or plant visit that never got cut. We can handle the shoot as well, through corporate video production and event shoots.
  • D2C and e-commerce teams who need twelve product variants edited from one shoot day, this week.

What You Send, What You Get Back

Sending footage. Upload to Google Drive, Dropbox or WeTransfer and send us the link. For anything above roughly 50 GB we will open a dedicated upload folder, or you can courier a drive anywhere in Chennai. MP4, MOV, MXF, AVCHD, ProRes, BRAW and plain phone footage all work. We build proxies at our end for 4K and above, so nothing needs transcoding before it reaches us.

Send whatever else you have with it. A rough brief, a reference video, your logo and brand fonts, licensed music if you already have a track, separate audio files if you recorded on a lav mic or field recorder. If none of that exists, two lines about who the video is for will do.

What comes back. The final master in the resolution and aspect ratio you asked for, a web-compressed version that will not slow your site down, and an SRT subtitle file. Where the job includes them, you also get the short cut-downs and vertical reels pulled from the same timeline. Project files and rushes stay archived with us for 90 days after delivery.

Video Editing Turnaround Times

Podcast episode + 4 clips3–5 days48 hours
Ad or commercial with variants4–6 days2–3 days

The clock starts once the footage has finished uploading and the brief is confirmed. Rush slots carry a surcharge and depend on what is already booked that week, so check with us before you promise a date to your own client.

Revisions

Two rounds are included on every edit, and we would rather you used them properly than politely.

Round one covers structure: order, length, what stays and what goes. Round two covers polish, so text, colour, audio levels and timing. Send feedback as one list per round with a timecode against each note. Comments trickling in over four days is the most common reason a two-day edit turns into a two-week one. Extra rounds, or a re-edit after the structure has been signed off, are billed hourly at a rate we agree before starting.

How We Price Video Editing in Chennai

Most video editing companies in Chennai will not put numbers on a page. We will, because guesswork wastes the first call.

Price depends on how much footage there is, how long the finished edit runs, how much motion graphics and colour work it needs, whether it is multicam, and how many deliverables come off the same timeline. Our rates sit in the normal market range for video editing in Chennai.

Reels and short-form usually land between ₹2,500 and ₹6,000 per edit. YouTube edits run ₹6,000 to ₹15,000 depending on length and graphics. Podcast episodes with social clips sit around ₹8,000 to ₹18,000. Corporate films and ad edits start at ₹25,000. Heavy motion graphics, bilingual subtitling or twenty-plus hours of rushes push past those bands.

You get a fixed quote after a short call and a look at a sample of the footage. No hourly billing, and cut-downs are quoted with the job rather than invoiced afterwards.

Monthly Video Editing Retainers

If you publish to a schedule, a retainer costs less and moves faster than briefing every job from scratch.

You pick a monthly volume. Twelve reels, say, or four YouTube videos plus eight clips. You get a named editor who learns your brand, a shared asset library so your fonts, logo stings and lower thirds are already loaded, and priority in the queue ahead of one-off projects. Unused volume carries over for one month. Retainers run from three months and usually work out 15 to 25 percent below per-project rates.

Software, Formats & Delivery Specs

We cut in Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro, grade in DaVinci Resolve, and build motion graphics, titles and lower thirds in After Effects. Audio cleanup and mixing happen in Adobe Audition.

Running two editing platforms matters more than it sounds. If you already have a project file, a rough cut or an in-house editor on either one, we can pick the job up where it stands instead of asking you to start again. Colour runs in two passes: correction first for exposure, white balance and matching shots across cameras, then grading with LUTs to hold one look across the film.

Delivery specs. 4K (3840×2160), 1080p and 720p. Aspect ratios 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 and 4:5. H.264 or H.265 MP4 for web and social, ProRes 422 masters on request. Frame rates from 24 to 60 fps. Audio mixed to broadcast-safe levels, −14 LUFS for web and −23 LUFS for broadcast. Subtitles burned in or supplied as a separate SRT file, in English or Tamil.

Freelance Video Editor or Agency: Which Do You Need?

An honest answer, because picking wrong costs you months.

A freelance video editor in Chennai is usually cheaper, and for a steady trickle of similar edits that is often the right call. The catch is one person’s availability and one person’s skill range, with no cover when they are ill or travelling.

A team earns its money when colour, sound and motion graphics all have to be done properly, when volume spikes around a launch, when a deadline needs someone accountable, or when the work has to be white-labelled for your own clients. If your project does not need us, we will say so on the call.

FAQs

How much does video editing cost in Chennai?

It depends on footage volume, edit length, motion graphics, colour work and how many deliverables you need. Our rates sit in the normal market range for Chennai. Reels and short-form run roughly ₹2,500 to ₹6,000, YouTube edits ₹6,000 to ₹15,000, podcast episodes with social clips ₹8,000 to ₹18,000, and corporate films or ad edits from ₹25,000. You get a fixed quote after a short call, with no hourly billing.

Reels and short-form are usually ready in 24 to 48 hours. YouTube edits take 3 to 4 days, podcast episodes with clips 3 to 5 days, ad edits 4 to 6 days, and corporate films 7 to 12 days. Rush slots are available on most formats, same day for reels and 48 hours for long-form, for a surcharge and subject to what is already booked. The clock starts once the footage has uploaded and the brief is confirmed.

Two rounds on every edit. Round one is for structure: order, length, what stays and what goes. Round two is for polish, so text, colour, audio levels and timing. Send one consolidated list per round with timecodes. Extra rounds, or a re-edit after the structure has been signed off, are billed hourly at a rate agreed before we start.

Yes. A large share of the reels and product videos we cut were shot on a phone. Record at the highest resolution your phone allows, lock exposure and focus, and send the original file from the gallery rather than a WhatsApp copy, which arrives heavily compressed. Upload to Google Drive, Dropbox or WeTransfer and share the link.

All three. YouTube editing covers cold opens, chapter structure, B-roll, callouts and retention pacing. Podcast editing is multicam, with the camera switching on speaker change, filler words removed and audio levelled, plus social clips. Reel editing covers Instagram, YouTube Shorts and LinkedIn with a hook in the first two seconds and burned-in captions.

Yes. You can have burned-in captions styled to your brand, a separate SRT file, or both languages as two versions of the same edit. Tamil subtitles are proofed by a native speaker rather than left to auto-transcription.

A freelance editor is usually cheaper and works well for a steady trickle of similar edits, as long as you can live with one person’s availability and skill range. A team makes more sense when colour, sound and motion graphics all have to be done properly, when volume spikes around a launch, when a deadline needs someone accountable, or when the work has to be white-labelled for your own clients.
