Product Photography & Videography
Product Photography & Videography Services in Chennai
Customers cannot pick up your product online. They decide from a photograph.
One Dot Direction is a product photography and videography team in Chennai working with D2C labels, marketplace sellers and manufacturers. We shoot listing images, lifestyle sets, product videos and reels that show the finish, the scale and the small details buyers look for before they pay.

Better Product Visuals, Better First Impressions
A good product still looks ordinary in a bad frame. Most of the gap comes down to lighting, angle and how clean the background is behind it.
We keep the lighting, styling, shot list and retouching under one roof, so your catalogue, website and ad creatives end up looking like they came from the same brand. Clean packshots for marketplaces, styled sets for campaigns, and video pulled from the same session when you need both.

Marketplace Image Guidelines We Shoot To
A listing image gets rejected for reasons that have nothing to do with how good the photograph is. Wrong background, wrong crop, too small to zoom. We shoot to the platform spec from the start instead of cropping our way out of it later.
| Platform | Main image rule | Size and ratio |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon | Pure white background, product filling roughly 85 per cent of the frame, no text, logo or watermark | Square, longest side 1600 px or more so zoom works |
| Flipkart | White background, single product, no borders or collages | Square, 1100 px or larger |
| Myntra | On-model or flat lay on a light, even background | Portrait 3:4, 1080 x 1440 px or larger |
| Meesho | Plain white background, product centred and fully visible | Square, 500 px minimum |
| Shopify or your own store | Matching background and crop across the whole catalogue | Square 2048 x 2048 px master, compressed copies for the page |
Platforms revise these rules, so the current spec sheet gets checked before export rather than trusted from memory. Tell us every marketplace you sell on and you get one master file per SKU with a correct crop for each one, rather than a separate shoot per platform.
What You Receive and File Specs
Every shoot is delivered as a folder you can hand straight to a developer or an agency, with filenames that carry your SKU codes instead of camera numbers.
- High-resolution JPEG masters in sRGB, longest side 3000 px or more.
- Marketplace crops at 1:1 with the product filling the frame correctly for each platform.
- Web and social crops at 4:5, 16:9 and 9:16 from the same frames.
- Transparent PNG or clipping path versions where your site or A+ content needs them.
- Compressed web set under 200 KB each, so product pages stay fast.
- Video in 4K or 1080p, with 9:16 versions and burned-in or SRT captions for reels.
- Two rounds of revisions on the selected images and on each video cut.
Delivery goes out over Google Drive or WeTransfer with a download link that stays live, and the project is archived on our side for 90 days in case you need a re-export.
Studio or On-Location Product Shoots
Small and mid-size products are shot on a table setup with controlled light, seamless backdrops and tethered capture, so you can approve framing on a screen while the shoot runs.
Some products cannot travel. Heavy machinery, installed equipment, furniture, perishable food and anything that needs your team on hand gets covered at your place with portable lighting and blackout or backdrop support. We work across Chennai, including OMR, Guindy, Ambattur, Sriperumbudur, Porur and the northern industrial belt, and travel across Tamil Nadu for factory work.
If you are unsure which suits your product, send a photo of it from your phone with rough dimensions. That is usually enough for us to call it.
Retouching and Background Removal
Raw frames are never listing-ready. Dust sits on black packaging, glass throws reflections of the softbox, and a navy shirt photographs closer to purple than it looks in the hand.
Post-production on every shoot covers dust and lint removal, reflection and hotspot control, straightening and alignment, colour matched against the physical sample rather than guessed on screen, pure white conversion for marketplace mains, clipping paths with transparent PNG where you need them, and natural or contact shadows so products do not float. Files come back in sRGB for web and are checked at 100 per cent before delivery.
Existing images can also be reworked on their own if the photography was done elsewhere. That job is handled the same way as our video editing service: you send the files, we fix and return them.
How We Price Product Photography in Chennai
There is no single rate for a product shoot, and any studio quoting one before seeing your list is guessing. Our rates sit inside the normal Chennai market range and are quoted either per SKU for catalogue work or per shoot day for campaign work.
What moves the number:
- SKU count. Per-image cost falls as volume rises. Sixty bottles on one white sweep cost far less per shot than six.
- Shots per SKU. A single pack front is cheap. Front, back, detail, scale and lifestyle is five setups.
- Styling and props. Bought or hired props, surfaces, fabric and food styling are billed at cost.
- Hands or model in frame. Model fees, wardrobe and a longer day.
- Retouching depth. Clean-up and colour matching are included. Composites, liquid pours and heavy reconstruction are quoted separately.
- Studio or on-location. On-location adds travel, setup time and sometimes power arrangements.
- Video add-ons. Reels and demo films shot in the same session cost less than a separate day.
Send the SKU list and the platforms you sell on, and you get a fixed quote with the shot count spelled out. Brands launching every month usually move to a retainer that holds one shoot day a month.
Product Shoot Turnaround Times
Clocks start from the shoot day, not from the enquiry. Volume moves these numbers, so the final dates go into your quote in writing before we block a date.
| Deliverable | Standard | Rush |
|---|---|---|
| Selects and sample edits | 24 to 48 hours | Same day |
| White background, up to 20 SKUs | 3 to 4 working days | 2 working days |
| White background, 21 to 60 SKUs | 5 to 7 working days | 4 working days |
| Lifestyle or styled set | 4 to 6 working days | 3 working days |
| Product reel, 9:16 | 3 to 5 working days | 48 hours |
| Product film or demo video | 7 to 10 working days | 5 working days |
Rush work carries a surcharge and depends on the calendar. If a listing has to go live on a fixed date, say so early and we build the schedule backwards from it.
How to Prepare for Your Product Shoot
Shoot days run long when samples arrive late or arrive damaged. Sending the right material a few days ahead keeps the schedule tight.
Send us: the final SKU list with product codes, two samples of anything fragile, perishable or single-use, retail packaging in saleable condition, your logo and brand colour codes, and two or three reference images of the look you want. Tell us where each image will be used, because a marketplace thumbnail and a website banner need different crops.
Leave to us: lighting, backdrops, props, styling and the shot list. Food and cosmetics get scheduled early in the day so nothing melts or separates under the lights.
Industries and Products We Shoot
Our product photography services in Chennai cover:
D2C and e-commerce • Beauty and cosmetics • Food and packaging • Electronics • Fashion and lifestyle • Healthcare and wellness • Industrial and manufacturing
A 30 ml serum bottle and a 300 kg machine need very different setups. Small items sit on a shooting table with macro glass and controlled reflections. Large or fixed equipment is covered on location with portable lighting. The shot list gets planned around the product before a single case is opened.
Recent Product Photography Work
A shot list rarely stops at one image per product. Most listings need a front pack, a back pack with the ingredient or spec panel, a detail crop, a scale reference and at least one lifestyle frame. The set below shows how that looks across categories we shoot in Chennai.
Full campaigns, including video, sit on our portfolio page.
Product Videos and Reels From Our Shoots
The same setup that produces catalogue images can produce motion in the same session, which keeps lighting and colour consistent across both. Below are three product films we shot and cut in house.
Rohini’s Food Products needed packaging to read clearly at arm’s length and on a phone. Dheerka Nethra was a showcase piece built around finish and detail. The Häagen-Dazs spot was an advertisement where texture had to carry the frame. More categories are on our work page.

FAQs
Do you provide both product photography and videography?
Yes. Stills and video are handled by the same team on the same shoot day, which is why colour and lighting match across your listing images, your website banner and your reels. You can also book only photography or only video if that is all you need.
How much does product photography cost in Chennai?
Pricing is quoted per SKU for catalogue work and per shoot day for campaign work, and it sits within the normal Chennai market range. The figure depends on how many products you have, how many angles each one needs, whether props, models or an on-location setup are involved, and whether video is added. Send your SKU list and you get a fixed quote with the shot count written into it.
How long does a product shoot take?
A straightforward white-background batch of 15 to 20 SKUs is usually one day. Styled and lifestyle sets take longer because every frame is built from scratch. Edited images come back in 3 to 7 working days depending on volume, and rush delivery is possible when the calendar allows it.
Do you shoot products for Amazon, Flipkart and other marketplace listings?
Yes. Main images are shot on pure white with the product filling the frame to the platform requirement, then delivered in the right square crop and resolution so zoom works. Tell us every marketplace you sell on and each SKU is exported to all of those specs from one master file. Flipkart, Myntra, Meesho, Shopify and your own store are handled the same way.
Do you provide studio and on-location product shoots?
Both. Small and mid-size products come to our shooting setup. Heavy machinery, installed equipment, furniture and anything perishable or awkward to move is shot at your premises with portable lighting. We cover Chennai and travel across Tamil Nadu for factory and industrial work.
How many products can you shoot in a day?
On a single white-background setup with one or two angles per product, 20 to 40 SKUs a day is realistic. That number falls once styling, props or multiple hero angles are involved, and rises for flat, simple items such as sachets or labels. The day’s count is confirmed against your shot list before the booking.
Do you provide retouching and background removal?
Yes, and it is part of the shoot rather than an extra line item. Dust and lint removal, reflection control, alignment, colour matched to the physical sample, pure white conversion, clipping paths, transparent PNGs and natural shadows are all included. Heavy composites and liquid work are quoted separately.
Can you shoot product videos and reels in the same session?
Yes, and it is the cheaper way to do it. The lighting is already built and the product is already styled, so adding motion costs a fraction of a separate video day. You get 9:16 reels for Instagram and Shorts, 16:9 cuts for your site and marketplace A+ content, and captions where they are needed.
What do I need to send before the shoot?
Your final SKU list with product codes, samples in retail-ready packaging, two units of anything fragile or perishable, your logo and brand colour codes, and two or three reference images showing the look you want. Also tell us where the images will be used. Samples can be couriered to us or picked up anywhere in Chennai.
Do you shoot industrial products?
Yes. Machinery, components, tools and manufacturing equipment are shot on location at your plant, with lighting brought in to handle metal, glass and dark finishes. Scale references and detail crops are planned in so a buyer reading a spec sheet can see exactly what they are getting.
